We currently offer a combination of pre-bookable, face-to-face appointments as well as telephone and same day emergency appointments, with our GP’s and Nurse Practitioners.
Same-day GP / ANP appointments are structured around "clinically urgent" needs, and you will be asked by your receptionist to provide a brief description of your symptoms. This is to ensure appropriate triage paths are followed and is on instruction from the partners. Our receptionists are trained to triage calls and are bound by strict confidentiality codes of practice.
Urgent Same-Day Appointments: Specifically for issues that cannot wait, such as acute pain, infection signs, or sudden illness, will be passed to the duty doctor for triage and patients identified by the practice as clinically urgent will be offered an on the day appointment.
Walk In's: please be aware that we do not offer a walk in service and we are not equipped to handle accident and emergency situations.
For emergency situations you should attend your nearest A&E Hospital (Lancaster or Blackpool), by ambulance if necessary.
For urgent, non-emergency care, The Same Day Health Centre in Fleetwood, located at the Fleetwood Health & Wellbeing Centre on Dock Street (FY7 6HP), is open 8 am – 8 pm, seven days a week. Patients are requested, where possible, to telephone before 11am if a home visit is required that day.
We would request that, apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients attend the surgery rather than request a home visit because of the extra time home visiting takes. On average four to five patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to do a single house call. In addition, the care that can be offered due to the lack of adequate lighting, examination facilities and equipment means that you may not receive as good a service as the doctor may be able to offer if you came to the surgery.
Please note that the doctor may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. Ultimately it is the doctors right to decide whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.
